Self-Source Path
Self-Source Asimov 1
Request the BOM and plan sourcing, manufacturing, wiring, electronics, and actuator preparation.
Self-source path
Use this path only if you will purchase components and manufacture the Asimov 1 parts yourself. DIY Kit buyers should use the DIY Kit Path.
Start with the BOM
Request BOM access
Do not order or manufacture parts until the BOM, CAD, wiring manifest, and hardware release are confirmed to be compatible.
Self-Source Expectations
| Item | Expectation |
|---|---|
| Estimated cost | Close to $30,000 USD; destination, tariffs, delivery, logistics, and customs affect landed cost |
| Assembly and bring-up | Approximately 100 hours, excluding sourcing and manufacturing lead time |
| Mechanical parts | Builder manufactures, finishes, and inspects |
| Heat-set inserts | Builder installs and verifies |
| Normal wiring | Builder manufactures, labels, and tests from the released manifest |
| Wago and soldered joins | Left unjoined until the applicable assembly steps |
| Electronics | Builder sources and inspects |
| Battery | Builder sources a compatible pack and handles regional certification and logistics |
| Actuator IDs | Builder obtains uniquely numbered actuators, then programs and verifies them during common setup |
| Board flashing | Common setup; public image links and checksums TBC |
Path Outcome
This path ends when all manufactured and purchased items have the same accepted physical state as a verified DIY Kit. Both paths then converge at First-Time Software and Motor Setup.
