Open the Dashboard
Connect both computers, open the dashboard, and confirm the RPU is online.
Connect and Start the Computers
- Connect an Ethernet cable directly between the Raspberry Pi 5 and the RPU. This is a private link, not a router connection.
- Power on both boards.
- Wait about two minutes for them to start.
Use Your Wi-Fi Network
Connect your laptop or phone to the same Wi-Fi network configured in Raspberry Pi Imager. Open http://<name>.local:8080, using the hostname you chose, then sign in to the dashboard with admin / admin.
Use the Fallback Network
If the robot cannot join the configured Wi-Fi, it broadcasts asimov-XXXX, where XXXX is the last four characters of its Wi-Fi hardware address.
- Find the 16-digit code behind the QR code on the Raspberry Pi 5 retail box.
- Join
asimov-XXXXusing that code as the Wi-Fi password. - Open
http://10.42.0.1:8080and sign in withadmin/admin. - Use the dashboard WiFi page to join the robot to your network.
- Continue at
http://<name>.local:8080.
Phones can abandon a network with no internet. Disable mobile data or use a laptop if the fallback dashboard does not stay connected.
Confirm the RPU Is Online
In First-Run Setup, select Go to Firmware. Confirm the RPU is online and both Network (ping) and Control show green status dots.
If ping is not green, check the direct Ethernet cable and confirm both boards have power before continuing.
