Choose Your Preparation Path
Choose the preparation workflow for an Asimov 1 DIY Kit or a self-sourced build.
Asimov 1 preparation follows one of two paths:
- Asimov 1 DIY Kit: For builders who pre-ordered a Kit. The manufacturer completes most fabrication and preparation work, so the buyer focuses on inventory and verification.
- Self-source: For builders who source and manufacture Asimov 1 from scratch. This path includes additional fabrication, wiring, inspection, and readiness checks.
Path Differences
| Preparation activity | Asimov DIY Kit | Self-sourced build |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanical parts | Manufactured and finished; buyer verifies | Builder manufactures and inspects |
| Heat-set inserts | Installed by manufacturer; buyer verifies | Builder installs and verifies |
| Normal wire harnesses | Premade by manufacturer; buyer inspects | Builder manufactures and tests from the released manifest |
| Actuator IDs | Actuators arrive with numbered stickers; the builder programs each actuator during common setup | The builder labels and programs each actuator during common setup |
| Battery | Included for supported US and Singapore deliveries | Builder sources a compatible pack |
| Tools | Basic assembly tools are included | The builder sources the required tools |
Do not mix paths
Follow only the preparation path that matches how you obtained the robot. A DIY Kit builder should not need to fabricate normal parts or wiring. A self-source builder should not assume factory preparation has been completed.
