Step 12: Install the Linkage Shaft
Assemble the D-shaft linkage and mount it to Subassembly C.
Parts needed
| Part | Count |
|---|---|
| Subassembly C foot-pivot assembly from Step 11 | 1 |
| 6mm D-Shaft Stainless Steel | 1 |
| 6mm Bore 1-Side, 2-Post Pillow Block | 2 |
| Ball Joint Rod End | 2 |
| Steel Set-Screw Collar | 2 |
| M4x16 socket bolts | 4 |
| Threadlocker | As needed |
Instructions
Take the 6mm D-Shaft Stainless Steel and put 2 – Steel Set-Screw Collar onto it. Move it to the middle of the D-Shaft. Slightly tighten each set screw to keep the collar in place.
Take 2 – Ball Joint Rod End and put it one each on the left and right of the D-Shaft.
Take 2 – 6mm Bore 1-Side, 2-Post Pillow Blocks and put one each on the left and right of the D-shaft.
Then take the D-shaft component we have been building and align it with part and according to the visualization below.
Flip the assembly upside down so part is visible. Take 4 – M4x16 socket bolts and lightly tighten them into the holes on part to align with the threaded holes in the two pillow-block legs.
After the parts are aligned:
- remove each of the 4 – M4x16 socket bolts,
- apply threadlocker,
- then tighten them back to secure Part and the 2 Pillow Block.
Turn the current subassembly around such that part is facing downward toward the floor. You need to flush the 2 – Ball Joint Rod to flush against the 2 Pillow Block, then tighten the set screw on the Steel Set-Screw Collar to secure them in place accordingly.
How is this guide?
Step 11: Assemble the Foot Pivot
Build the foot pivot by fastening parts 500_25A, 500_26B, 500_36A, 500_37C, and 500_39C to four pillow blocks with M4 bolts.
Step 13: Join the Ankle Assemblies
Join Subassemblies B and C with two M4x25 socket bolts, then connect the ankle linkages with rod ends, steel bars, and two M3x6 socket bolts.
